Angels Report 9/4
September 04, 2002
Anaheim Angels 83-54 First Place in the Wild Card
LATEST TEAM INFO
The Angels find them selves two and a half games ahead of the Seattle Mariners of the lead in the Wild Card race. The Angels are on a role, with a record of 16 wins and six losses over the last 22 games. Its not as strong a streak as the A's are on, but it will be strong enough to keep them in the playoffs.
The last month of the season is going to be the breaker for the Angels. They play 14 of their last 25 games against the Mariners and the A's, so anything can happen in this last month.
Jarrod Washburn overcame control problems to become the Angels' first 16-game winner in nine years. Washburn (16-5) allowed two runs and six hits over five innings, and Orlando Palmeiro drove in a career-high four runs as Anaheim beat the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 10-2 Tuesday night. Washburn struck out six and walked three during his 100-pitch outing. The Angels (83-54) are 29 games over .500 for the first time in franchise history.
PLAYER UPDATES
Adam Kennedy is on a huge tear. Over the last 30 days he has been the Angels best hitter. He is batting .395 with three home runs and 17 RBI.

Orlando Palmeiro went 4-for-4 with a double and four RBI on Tuesday. Palmeiro now has two four-hit games in his last three starts.
