News: Bard has been pretty successful in filling Doug Mirabelli's old job as Tim Wakefield's personal catcher so far this Spring. He'll be behind the plate in most, if not all, of Wakefield's starts this season.
Views: We knew that Varitek probably wouldn't be catching when Wakefield pitches anyway, but it's nice to hear that Bard's holding up well with the job. In AL leagues that carry two catchers, Bard could be a solid gamble as a number two. Apart from that, don't bother with him.
