News: McGowan, the club's top pitching prospect, was called up to replace the struggling Jason Frasor in the Blue Jays' bullpen on Friday, the Toronto Star reports.
Views: With A.J. Burnett on the disabled list and Scott Downs on leave because his newborn daughter is ill, McGowan could be in line for a spot start or two. He's drawn favorable comparisons with another late-bloomer on the team, Roy Halladay, in the past, and could be worth the gamble if he gets a crack at the rotation.
