Mark Mulder (SP), STL - Alert: LOW
May 28, 2006
News: Mulder played (and lost) hot potato with the lead with Jake Peavy on Sunday. After the Cardinals scored five in the top half of the fifth inning to jump ahead 5-2, Mulder absolutely imploded, allowing six runs in the bottom half of the inning before being pulled after retiring just one batter. Mulder dropped to 5-3 on the year as he allowed eight runs on ten hits and a walk in just 4.1 innings.
Views: And to think; Mulder was my start of the week in The Hook this past week because he owned the Giants and the Padres' offense hasn't exactly lit the world on fire. He got lit up Sunday, and his numbers now look exactly like the mediocre "ace" that the Cardinals gave up ace Danny Haren, quality reliever Kiko Calero, and stud corner infield prospect Daric Barton for last season. I still can't agree with what Billy Beane did with Esteban Loaiza, but he clearly knew what he was doing here........
