News: Chris Carpenter is expected to be placed on the 15-day DL prior to Tuesday's game.
Views: Carpenter, who has bursitis in his upper back, threw in the outfield Sunday with the hope of throwing a bullpen session to make his next start. If Carpenter's recovery allows him to throw within the next several days, he could return to the rotation by next week's series against the Cincinnati Reds. Anthony Reyes will take over Carpenter's spot in the rotation.
