Roger Clemens (SP), HOU - FA Signing
May 31, 2006
News: As expected, Clemens signed with the Houston Astros on Wednesday. The contract was a minor league deal for a pro-rated $22 million over one year.
Views: I'm going to jump in with some discussion about this in tomorrow's edition of The Hook before going into our May pitchers of the month, so I'm not going to break this down much in the update section. Needless to say, Clemens should return and be a beast that could help drive the Astros to a third consecutive playoff appearance. His fantasy impact will be huge, though it's unlikely that he was sitting out on any waiver wires anyway.
c'mon roger let me fill in for one inning, no one will ever know...

Man, you could wonder if he ever thought about retiring. Maybe he's doing this as a publicity joint and for the huge pay, who knows. Nevertheless, if he comes back strong in his first outing, that would be WONDERFUL. I picked Clemens up 2 weeks ago thinking he would come back and he would soon.
He's not earning all of that 22 mil. He's probably earning only about half due to him coming back late June.

Correct. Still a lot more than I would be willing to work for. Call me up.
