Ervin Santana (SP), ANA - Rumor
June 14, 2006
News: Rumor has it that the Angels have had talks with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays involving Santana. ESPN is reporting that Carl Crawford would be their likely target. Santana is 6-3 with a 4.29 ERA in 77+ innings of work this season for the Angels.
Views: As good a future as Santana has, he won't get this done by himself. Expect the Rays to ask for another one of the Halos' big prospects to go along with him. Provided that they stick to a middle infielder (Brandon Wood or Erick Aybar, as the rumors are insisting), it's possible that the Angels would be willing to make the move because of their depth. With B.J. Upton and Reed Brignac in Tampa's system, I'm not sure why they'd be going after a shortstop, though.....
