Albert Pujols (1B), STL - Update
June 16, 2006

News: While he's eligible to come off the DL on June 19th, Albert Pujols' return to the lineup isn't imminent, but it's closer than originally expected.

Views: Friday night before the Cards' game with the Rockies, Pujols took some ground balls at 1B, and took some light swings on the side. He is expected to take some easy batting practice on Saturday and a return before the All-Star break is a strong possibility -- a little sooner than the six-week estimate.

There was some talk about having him DH at Chicago and Detroit, but Pujols and Tony LaRussa didn't want any of that because of the good chance of reinjuring the area from sitting on the bench most of the game.

Isringhausen said he would be back for the Detroit series next weekend! Not exactly from the trainers mouth but it is encouraging news none the less...

I'm gonna start a "I love Albert Pujols thread" similar to the Yadi thread.

Players are quick to "recover" from oblique injuries, but then hurt themselves just as badly or worse rather soon.

I'm trying to score some tickets for the Cards/Tigers... although I don't know if I am available.

If Pujols comes back, during BP I'll ask him for his # for you if I go DHCF.
