Fantasy Baseball Player News

Scott Kazmir (SP), TB - Hot
June 23, 2006

News: Kazmir won his second straight start, twirling 7.2 dominant innings in a 4-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks Thursday. Kazmir allowed just one run on three hits and two walks as he moved to 9-4 on the year. He struck out eight, and has now allowed just three runs in his past three starts.

Views: To add to (and dillute) the Clemens overkill, we had a trio of young aces (actually, four of them if you want to count King Felix, who didn't pitch particularly well) all throw brilliant starts Thursday to overshadow his return. Kazmir, Anthony Reyes, and Francisco Liriano all looked Cy caliber Thursday, and the best is yet to come.

why did the mets give up this guy!?

I don't know why the Mets gave up on this guy. I actually heard several members of the Mets club house have called the police this season reporting a highway robery.

Kazmir should be a lock for the all-star team as the Devil Rays lone representative since Jonny Gomes has cooled off in recent weeks.

It's a shame he isnt pitching in this Atlanta series. I'll be at all 3 games and he was orginally scheduled to pitch tonight before Casey Fossum decided he needed an extra day to rest before his start.

Omar Minaya will never be able to live this one down, even if the Amazin's win the whole Shebang-bang. He is an IDIOT. It is shaping up to be the worst trade in baseball history, besides that Bagwell guy...imagine this kid in the Met's rotation NOW?

Minaya didn't make the trade.

Jim Duquette was GM during the time of this trade. He would eventually be fired and replaced by Minaya. He is now the GM for the Orioles.

Furthermore, Minaya's moves for the Mets have just about all turned gold (Nady, Beltran, Delgado, Duque, Sanchez, Chavez, Valentin, Franco, etc.) And he's also made the right decisions in as far as not trading players and showing patience for younger players -- heilman, soler, etc.

I read that the reason the mets gave him up is that some guys high up in the organization didn't like his attitude. Even if that is so they could have gotten a lot more for him. At the begining of the year they could have traded him for Alfonso Soriano.

There were a lot of factors that officials used as excuses, including his attitude and his body frame. There was a belief that he was too small to have such an electric arm and it was only a matter of time before he blew out his arm.

But just imagine: Pedro, Glavine, Kazmir, Duque, Trax. That would be amazing.

You had me until Steve Trachsel.

Fine. Soler. Trax is a good 5 starter at the very least.

Bannister was good in his few starts. When he comes back that could be a huge lift for that starting pitching staff.

Funny that a team with Billy Wagner and Pedro Martinez would be the same team that thought Scot Kazmir was too small to succeed.

This season will prove to the Wilpons that even a blind squirrel can find a nut.

When I read Glavine after Pedro, I threw up in my mouth. 3 other times when I read who was after Glavine.

Your starting pitching is OK I guess. If everyone over-achieves (rotation wise) I guess the Mets could win it all.
