Ramon Hernandez (C), BAL - Hot
June 25, 2006
News: Hernandez continues to use his bat to insist that neither Victor Martinez nor Joe Mauer are the light years ahead of him that most fantasy experts will tell you they are. Hernandez went 2-for-3 with his third homer in the past two games in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Washington Nationals.
Views: I have to give V-Mart (.295-10-46) and Mauer (.370-5-31) a ton of credit, but Hernandez has been the top catcher in fantasy circles this season. Mauer may be threatening to be the first backstop to lead a league in hitting in sixty years or so, but Hernandez leads all catchers in home runs (by 3) and RBI (by 6) and is hitting a solid .285 himself. Hernandez has taken that career year he was on his way to before getting hurt in San Diego last year and beating it to a pulp. If you're owning him and thinking of selling high, however, don't even think about it. Hernandez' tendency has always been to go nuts in the second half!
