Daniel Haigwood (SP), PHI - Trade (NL to AL)
June 30, 2006
News: The Phillies traded LHP Daniel Haigwood, who was pitching for AA Reading, to the Texas Rangers in exchange for 21-yr old lefty reliever Fabio Castro.
Views: Haigwood was 2-5 with a 3.54 ERA and 1.36 WHIP, with 85 Ks in 85 IP. Castro was 0-1 with a 2.60 ERA in 5 starts as a minor leaguer (AA & AAA) with a 1.62 WHIP. Early in the season, he pitched out of the Rangers bullpen and totaled 5 Ks, 5 hits, 3 walks and 2 ER in 5.2 IP before heading to the DL. I don't really know what Pat Gillick was doing in this trade. Then again, who ever knows what the Phillies are thinking?
I agree.
Edit: To make matters worse, this Castro guy is 5'7" and a converted positional player.
Makes more sense I was guessing it was some clearing time. Matheison looked good tonight.
Dont rag on the other pitchers.
Scott has more than one pitch.
Gio is developing certain pitches and right now the Phils are not allowing him to throw certain pitches. Considering such, he is putting together quite a year.
Good luck to you and your brother.
