Shea Hillenbrand (1b), SF

News: A day after being designated for assignment, Hillenbrand was traded along with reliever Vinny Chulk to the San Francisco Giants for reliever Jeremy Accardo.

Views: That's a far cry from what the Jays could have gotten for Hillenbrand without the debacle. Earlier in the year, rumors were flying around about him being traded for Adam Kennedy, not a slight upgrade in middle relief. Hillenbrand will likely assume the first base duties in San Francisco.

The Giants addressed a need and didn't have to give up too much to do it. They have been struggling to find a decent 1B fill in with Snow gone and it looks like Hillenbrand will step in as an everyday firstbasemen.
