News: Though he won't factor in the decision, Maine posted his second straight brilliant start Wednesday. Maine, coming off a complete game shutout his last time out, tossed seven scoreless against the Cubs, allowing just three hits and three walks. He fanned seven, but left in a 0-0 tie.
Views: OK... so these two starts were against the Astros and Cubs (who rank 27th and 30th respectively in the majors in run scored), but you have to like what we've seen out of this kid his last few times out. Once upon a time, Maine was a highly touted prospect with the Orioles, and he looks like he's starting to develop a bit. He's still likely to be headed back to the minors when Pedro Martinez returns, though Steve Trachsel's not exactly making much of a case to stay in the rotation.
