Mike Stanton (RP), SF

News: Stanton was traded to the San Francisco Giants Friday for minor-league pitcher Shairon Martis.

Views: Left-handed bullpen depth... nothing more. Stanton will give the Giants a veteran lefty out of the 'pen in front of closer Armando Benitez.

I don't know much about Martis, apart from the fact that he had a terrific showing in the Arizona Fall League last season and a dominant start early in the World Baseball Classic. He was 6-4 with a 3.64 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and 66:21 K:BB ratio in 76+ innings of high-A ball for the Giants this season. He's still just 19, and he's at least a handful of years away from possibly contributing.
