Ricky Nolasco (SP), FLA - Hot
July 28, 2006
News: Though Nolasco has been lost a bit in the shuffle when people talk about emerging young players in Florida, he continues to look phenomenal. Nolasco allowed just an infield single to Abraham Nunez as he won his third straight start Friday and ran his record to 9-6 on the year. Nolasco did look a bit shaky with his control (five walks) and struck out three in the win.
Views: Nolasco has now allowed just two runs (one earned) in his last three starts, a span of 21.2 innings. His control has normally been spot on this season, which leads me to believe he didn't even necessarily have his best stuff tonight (at least in terms of location). Barring a two-start span in which Nolasco allowed seventeen runs before the break, he's been every bit as good as any other rookie in the National League this season.
