Ty Wigginton (2b/3b), TB - Injury
July 30, 2006
News: Wigginton will be out for the next four to six weeks after he broke his hand when he got hit by a pitch in Saturday's 19-6 win over the Yankees.
Views: It's a shame, since Wigginton has enjoyed a breakout season in Tampa Bay. Wigginton has hit .267 with a career best 18 homers in 344 at bats this season. The Rays are expected to play short a man on Sunday, though they should be calling someone up in time for Monday's game. Top prospect B.J. Upton was suggested as a strong possibility for that roster spot by the AP.... particularly if the Rays are able to move Julio Lugo.
