News: San Diego acquired Walker from the Chicago Cubs for righthander Jose Ceda. The Padres have said that they intend to use Walker at third base.
Views: This was a nice under-the-radar pickup by the Padres, though it's unclear how well Walker will be able to cover the hot corner. Ceda appears to be at least a few years away from contributing, and wasn't considered among the Padres top twenty prospects, though he does throw in the high-nineties. Walker gives the Pads another solid lefty bat.
