Alex Gordon (3b), KC -
March 22, 2007
News: As expected, Gordon was told he would break camp with the club earlier this week and will be the Royals' starting third baseman this season. Mark Teahen will move to the outfield to free up the hot corner.
Views: This was no surprise. Gordon instantly gains tremendous value at third base in fantasy circles, and could surprise to be a top ten option. In his first full professional season, Gordon hit .325 with 29 homers, 22 steals, and a 1.015 OPS for AA Wichita. In single season leagues, he's probably a backup third baseman or utility player until he's proven he can mash at the big league level. In keeper leagues holding their first draft, he probably shouldn't make it out of the first six or seven rounds.
