Ichiro Suzuki (OF), SEA

News: Ichiro's early struggles continued tonight in Arlington as he went 0-for-4 with 3 strikeouts. He's now just 4-for-22 on the year (.182) and has yet to even attempt a steal thus far this season.

Views: April is typically Ichiro's worst month batting, but so far his struggles at the plate are very uncharacteristic. On his career he generally strikes out 1 in ever 10.6 at-bats. In the early going this season he's already notched 8 K's in 22 at-bats, almost 4 times his career strikeout rate. Don't fret, Ichiro is basically a lock for 200+ hits and 100+ runs no matter who's hitting behind him, and some of his struggles may be attributed to the 5 postponed games the Mariners have had, possibly taking him out of his rhythm.

Keep in mind too I think he was batting something like .220 on Apr 15, 2006. So it's not like we have not seen this type of slow start from Ichiro before. He'll be fine.
