Edwin Encarnacion (3B) CIN - Optioned to Minors
May 10, 2007

News: Edwin Encarnacion was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.

Views: His two errors that cost the Reds the game Wednesday probably punched his ticket in the end. Big news for Ryan Freel owners, as he becomes the primary 3B.

No matter the errors and occasional lack of hustle, Encarnacion belongs in the majors. It's quite possible another team swoops in and steals Encarnacion from the hapless Reds for worthless relievers like Washington did for Austin Kearns.

Think he can play second?

I think that Encarnacion will be traded before he is called back up. I think Edwin has been a scapegoat for the reds lack of success lately, and is definitely in the dog house for some reason. Who needs a 3B? I don't know can he play 2B? That would be huge for fantasy... I am going to hold on to him for awhile, my league is too deep to just drop him.

I think they are going to have to move him to 1B. Votto hasn't exactly set the world afire himself so far this year.

The chances of him being dealt are pretty high right now. If Milwaukee didn't have Braun in the mix, they would make a pretty good trade partner (despite being in the same division). I'm not sure where he'll end up, but I doubt he is wearing a Cincy uniform in spring training next year.

What about Minnesota?

I don't see the fit defensively. They seem to pride themselves on defense, so unless they want to make him a full-time DH, I don't see the fit.

Maybe San Diego? They have plenty of bullpen arms, and Kouzmanoff has been dreadful at 3B.
