Carlos Zambrano (SP), CHC

Fantasy Baseball Player News

Carlos Zambrano (SP), CHC - Alert: HI
May 15, 2007

News: Carlos Zambrano righted the ship for once Tuesday night, limiting New York to one run over eight innings in the Cubs' 10-1 leveling of the Mets.

Views: Zambrano scattered six hits, but allowed three walks and a home run -- both trouble points in his starts this season. But, for once, Zambrano was able to pitch around them, which is a good sign. He had been unable to do that this season.

7th round? How many teams in your league?
[3] by FantasyGuru on 05/17/2007 08:18 amreply

pretty lucky getting zambrano in 7th round (thats picks 61-70). In 12 teams league, average pick for Zambrano is 37.2. In 10 team league it's probably in 40s.

yeah well most guys in my league preferred to take bats over arms... One team stacked up in pitching taking santana, carpenter, and oswalt with three of his first four picks.

he's probably regretting it now. All you need is 1 ace, 1 very good pitcher and you can draft good pitchers later on if you play it smart.

In a 12 team league? Certainly. It hasn't worked out the best yet but it was a good pick.

The way I looked at the draft I didn't want to take a pitcher till the 10th or 11th round. But he was sitting on the board along with Jake Peavy in the 7th round. Peavy went the pick right before me so I grabbed Zambrano. I also managed to get Dan Haren in the 12th round and Jered Weaver in the 15th round. My team is basically a power team. I have traded for some speed but the injury bug is just killing me right now. I just hope my "ACE" has finally come around. What do you guys think will happen with Lincecum after lastnights start?

Yup a pick right before me... Like I was telling you earlier, owners were taking bats long before pitchers. This was an offline draft in person so you had to bring alot of your own information. You got a lot of players at good spots if you knew all your players and the positions you needed.

That's crazy to see pitchers last that long in your league. However, Zambrano became his crazy self again yesterday against the Sox. I got rid of this headache earlier in the season because I was sick of his inconsistencies. There is no denying that Zambrano is talented, but the fact that he is so inconsistent is very frustrating for fantasy owners. I was able to swing him for Lackey and I've been very happy with the move so far.
