John Lackey (SP), LAA - Hot
May 22, 2007
News: Lackey won for the third start in a row Tuesday, allowing just one run on four hits in five innings in the Angels' 6-3 win over the Detroit Tigers. He struck out three as he tied Josh Beckett for the major league lead with seven wins on the year.
Views: Now for the bad news. He also walked three and couldn't find a way to keep his pitch count down. Lackey was pulled to start the sixth inning after throwing 101 pitches (61 strikes) in the first five innings against a team not noted for its patience. On the bright side, he still managed to have a pretty solid line against the defending AL Champs and found a way to win on a night where he didn't necessarily seem to have his best stuff.
