Latest Team News
Brian Anderson: Not worth having.
Miguel Batista: He says that he has found a flaw in his form and it appears that whatever he did to fix it is going well. Watch him for a few more starts and if he continues to pitch like an ace go ahead and pick him up
Rick Helling: He is looking better then he did at the beginning of the year but not good enough to have on your team, but he still has a little way to go to convince me.
Randy Johnson: He has not looked his best lately but I’m sure he will recover and be fine. His struggle tends to be that he gives up 2 or 3 runs in 8 innings, Nothing to worry about.
Byung-Hyun Kim: He is looking good right now and Mantei might not have a job when he gets back. There is still a question of who will close though, So I would trade him for another high end closer right now.
Mike Myers: If your league counts holds as a stat grab Myers.
Curt Schilling: The guy is amazing. If you can get him in a trade right now I would do it. Looks like he might be getting a Cy Young Award this year.
Todd Stottlemyre: Back on the DL drop him.
Rod Barajas: Has yet to put up good numbers. Also it should be noted that Barajas has turned into Miguel Batista’s personal catcher, so he only plays every 5 or 6 days.
Damian Miller: When he plays he is wonderful and he should start playing more because his back doesn’t seem to be bothering him much any more. Doesn’t catch for Miguel Batista.
Jay Bell: I don’t think he will get his job back. Don’t waste a DL spot on him in hope that when gets back he will play.
Greg Colbrunn: He is great when he plays, But the Diamondbacks have the ideal situation at 1B so don’t count on him playing much.
Craig Counsell: He has established him self at 3B both defensively and offensively. If you are in a deep league go ahead and pick him up.
Chris Donnels: Plays occasionally but not enough to have.
Erubiel Durazo: Second game back, three home runs. Then he immediately goes in to a slump. I think he will come out of it but it may take a while.
Mark Grace: With Durazo back he will not be playing everyday. Also he has a bruise on ankle but it is not serious.
Junior Spivey: He has just gone on the 15 day DL with a pulled hamstring. Spivey thinks that he will be back for the June 17th game versus Houston. I would stick him on your DL spot and wait for him to come back. Before the injury he was going for a gold glove and a batting title and neither one are out of the question yet.
Matt Williams: See Jay Bell.
Tony Womack: If you need steals go ahead and grab him if not leave him alone.
Danny Bautista: He is out for the year.
Steve Finley: Has been hitting well. Worth having as a bench player.
Luis Gonzalez: His HR’s and RBI’s and AVG are very good. He is very underrated in most leagues see if you can trade for him cheap.
Jose Guillien: He is taking a back seat with Quinton McCracken playing so well. Simply put he isn’t getting much playing time.
Quinton McCracken McCracken has been playing like an all-star and is getting the majority of the playing time in right field. If you need a sleeper outfielder in a large look McCracken maybe the answer.
Injuries: Matt Mantei 60 day DL recovering from Tommy John surgery he is pitching well in AA El Paso, Armando Reynoso 60 day DL recovering from neck surgery, Matt Williams 60 day DL with a broken hip, Jay Bell is in the middle of a rehab assignment in AAA Tucson, Danny Bautista .Out for the year. Todd Stottlemyre on the DL because of arm trouble. Junior Spivey is on the 15 day DL with a pulled hamstring. Spivey says that he thinks he will return on June 27th.
Local Perspective: BobbleHead Mania has overtaken Phoenix and is really quite pathetic. People willing to kill other people for a doll. Crazy. By the way, the Diamondbacks are 3rd in the league in game attendance, a rather large improvement from last year. Everyone loves a winner.
Rumors. Durazo going somewhere. Grace going somewhere. Finley going somewhere. Brian Anderson going anywhere maybe even cut.
Add:
Junior Spivey: Add him and stick him on your DL, then when he comes back start him. Before the injury he was putting up great stats and I expect him to continue to do that when he comes back. He has my vote for sleeper of the year.
Damian Miller: He is really hitting the ball well right now. If you look at his stats he’s HR’s and RBI’s are amazing and I think he AVG will start to rise soon. With catcher being such a hard spot to fill Miller is a great player to have on your team.
Erubiel Durazo: when he comes out of his slump.
Drop
Jay Bell: don’t count on him getting his job back.
Matt Williams see Jay Bell.
Todd Stottlemyre This injury could be the end of the line for Todd
Hold:
Randy Johnson, Curt Schilling and Luis Gonzalez (do I really have to explain?)
Damain Miller: a good starter for any fantasy team.
Junior Spivey: see Damian Miller.
Trade:
Erubiel Durazo: Even though his value isn’t that high if you don’t need him trade him.
Steve Finley: he is hot right now and I don’t know how long it will last. Trade him when his value is high.
