Winning and Losing
The first half of the week was great for the Dodgers. They swept the Brewers running their winning streak to 10 games and pulling even with the Giants for first place. During the streak, the Dodgers starting pitchers were 10-0 with a 1.63 ERA; however the offense did just enough scoring 40 runs.
The winning came to a streeching halt in Coors though. While Dodger fans hoped that Coors would wake up their hitters, instead the pitchers got pounded. The Dodger starters got ripped for 20 runs (18 earned) in 11 innings over three games for a 14.73 ERA and a 0-3 record. The offense also was weak scoring just 8 runs in the series and getting shutout in game 2. To add insult to injury, Brian Jordan was hit in the left hand by a Shawn Chacon fastball which may land him on the DL.
Transactions
- called up OF Bubba Crosby from Triple-A Las Vegas. Crosby, 26, has been on fire this season hitting .401 (.455 OBP, .710 SLG) with 6 homers and 36 RBI in 162 at-bats.
- designated RP Steve Colyer for assignment
- claimed Shane Victorino off waivers after the Padres designated the Rule V pick for assignment. He was hitting just .151 with 7 steals in 36 games. He was assigned to Double-A Jacksonville.
Injuries Dave Roberts (CF) - 15-day DL (strained right hamstring)
Roberts flew to Las Vegas on Wednesday night for a two-day minor league rehab assignment. He is eligible to be activated on June 1st and he should be ready to go.
Brian Jordan (LF) - day-to-day (left hand)
On Wednesday, Jordan was hit on the left hand by a Shawn Chacon fastball. X-rays were negative but he was diagnosed with a deep bone bruise. He's currently wearing a soft cast and could be headed for the DL. Bench him until you see him back in the lineup.
Darren Dreifort (SP) - skip start (right knee)
Dreifort will have his next start skipped due to his arthritic right knee. His next start will come on June 7th giving him nine days between starts.
Daryle Ward (OF) - day-to-day (right hand)
Ward says that he's had a sore right hand for about two weeks. He's hitting just .169 with no extra base hits in 71 at-bats. He has no fantasy value.
