Tedy Bruschi (LB), NE - Injury
March 23, 2005
News: The Boston Globe is reporting that Tedy Bruschi is condering not playing next year. This news comes just one month after Bruschi was treated for a mild stroke. Bruschi's recently hired agent, Brad Blank, said that Bruschi is "considering not playing next year." He went on to say, "Beyond that, I cannot comment on anything."
Bruschi's health story is a bit complicated. Bruschi was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital on February 16 for a mild stroke. He was apparently released a few days later. From there, the story gets interesting. Most news outlets say the story ends there. However, a television station in Arizona reported that Bruschi went back to the hospital after he was released to repair a hole in his heart.
Views: What happens from here is up in the air. There have been very few media reports or press releases updating Bruschi's condition after the stroke. A player as fierce as Bruschi will probably be very discouraged if he isn't able to get back on the field at the same level. He has his head on straight and would not play if he wouldn't be able to play at the same level, or with great risk to his well-being. We'll keep you posted.
