News: Hernandez dominated the San Diego Padres for six innings on Wednesday, allowing just a run on two hits and two walks as he picked up his second win of the season. He also struck out nine!
Views: I don't understand where this is coming from, as even in his best seasons, El Duque was never much of a strikeout pitcher. He's fanned a batter an inning just once in his career, striking out 84 in 84.2 innings after he returned from injury with the Yankees in 2004. Apart from that, he's been a 6.5 K:9 IP guy. This year? He's struck out 35 in 27.1 innings for the Diamondbacks. His ERA and WHIP are still a little on the scary side, though he's been very impressive in three of his five outings. He's probably worth a flyer as a fifth starter at this point, but don't expect this bizarre strikeout ratio to continue too much longer.
he looked great yesterday--- granted it was against a really crappy hitting padres team, but we should keep a close eye on him in his next few starts to monitor fantasy value
