News: While Mark Mulder continues to stink it up, Jason Marquis has become a quiet workhorse, winning his sixth straight decision by allowing the Rockies one run over eight innings in the Cards' 8-1 win Friday night.
Views: This was also Marquis' sixth win in seven starts, as he allowed five hits and two walks on 105 pitches. He also struck out three. While his record improved to 9-4, his ERA has had a significant improvement.
When he was 3-4, he had a 6.00 ERA. On his 6-0 run, he has had a 3.30 ERA. However, his WHIP has gone from 1.26 to 1.34 during the two periods. This is probably from a change in philosophy where he's been letting the hitters get themselves out instead of racking up pitches to get strikeouts or being too fine.
