Baseball Player News: Lastings Milledge (OF), NYM
By: Alex Young

News: The Mets optioned their top prospect Lasting Milledge back to AAA-Norfolk this afternoon. The move makes room for Cliff Floyd, who was eligible to come off the DL and return with the team this week. Milledge hit .233 with 3 HR and 12 RBIs in 24 games for the Mets.

Views: It was certainly a controversial period, but it was never expected for Lastings to stay full time in the big leagues. He still has to work on his patience at the play and he may have a little more maturing to do as well. He should be back up sometime later in the summer.

He is supposed to replace Floyd next year becasue Cliff is in the last year of his contract. As long as they are winning and Floyd is doing decent they will keep Floyd as the starter. Everything I have seen says not to expect Lastings to come up and start this year unless there is an injury. He needs to play everyday.

yeah... this will be floyd's last season as a met and the next time we see milledge (barring any more injuries of course) will be in september when the rosters are increased

he will be a big part of the mets future though, and look to see him in the every day lineup next year to go along with the other homegrown stars the mets are sporting rigth now

LETS GO METS
