Prospect Alert: Sytems Audit: Boston Red Sox

Systems Audit: Boston Red Sox 1. Dustin Pedroia, 2B, MLB. Very good defensively. He’s a prototypical leadoff hitter. Little home...

Enjoyed reading it, thanks. With the amount of trading they BSox do not shocking to see a grade of C. Do you see Wily Mo sticking with the team for the long term?

Finally, the Red Sox one.

Ksch, did you write this? It's very interesting.

Hm.. from that roster that's very interesting. Ortiz/Manny would be among the oldest players then and with Manny/Ortiz in until at least '08 (Manny club option '09/'10, Ortiz club option '11. The entire infield is going to change next season if Loretta/Gonzo leave and that would be very interesting.

For pitching, did you put them from #1 to the worst? And you have Hansen starting instead of Papelbon? I'm not sure what Boston has in plan, noone does, but yeah, this offseason will be interesting to see who closes next year.

That's a very interesting bullpen. Nice analysis.

EDIT: I must have used the word interesting like 1000000000 times. I see Wily Mo in Boston. IMO, Coco or Wily Mo will most likely be traded before their contracts are up or whatever.

First, thank you for the compliment. I am working on writing these for each team and have done Toronto, Tampa and NYY so far.
I do see Pena on the team for a while. I don't think the Sox are about to enter the 150M+ range. So signing more FAs for the OF is kinda out of hte question. I also like Pena's upside and think he'll eventually turn out to be pretty solid.

Yes DOH, I did write this. As for pitching, they are ranked as the number 1 pitcher, the number 2 etc. I think when Bucholtz makes it into the rotation, he'll be a bona fide ace before too long.
I went back and forth deciding on that last OF spot between Coco, Wily Mo and Ellsbury but in the end decided Crisp would be traded and Ellsbury is likely to be traded.
I don't know what the Sox will do with Papelbon, of course. I am guessing he stays in the pen though.

Wily Mo is awesome in that lineup. The only thing I see is that he really really needs to strike out less. Manny/Ortiz have struck out less than the past couple years and if Wily Mo can learn more plate discipline he can be a good 5-8 hitter. He's certainly got the pop to the bat.
