Baseball Player News: Mike Gonzales (RP), ATL
By: Alex Young

News: Mike Gonzales told the Associated Press that he is experiencing a bit of inflammation and tenderness in his elbow. He says he's day-to-day.

Views: Gonzales probably won't make an appearance in this weekend series' against the Mets. Because he had arm problems last year that cost him over a month, the Braves will probably be extra cautious.

I thought Bobby was overworking him a little bit earlier in the year. I mean, Gonzalez was pitching in games where he didn't even need to setup. Those are innings that goes to guys like Tyler Yates, not your second best reliever.

You mean third best. Isn't Soriano a Brave? I would say that Soriano is a better reliever than Gonzalez.

I like Gonzalez more than Wickman. He scares me when he comes out of the 'pen sometimes, because he allows hitters to put the ball in play, and sometimes they hit it hard.
