Baseball Player News: Akinori Iwamura (3B), TB

News: The Devil Rays have announced that Akinori Iwamura has been played on the 15-day DL with a right oblique strain. However, he could be out for almost six weeks with this particular injury.
Views: Tough news for a kid who had been playing so well. Shortly after placing him on the DL, Jorge Cantu was recalled to take his spot on the roster. Ty Wigginton will likely replace him at third, while Carlos Pena will fill in at first (as Wigginton slides over). |
