Baseball Player News: Ryan Theriot (2B), CHC
By: Jeff Brown
News: Ryan Theriot got his first major-league start at shortstop on Wednesday, and responded by going 2-for-5 with two RBI and two RS as the Cubs defeated the Brewers, 9-3.
Views: Lou Piniella hasn't been happy with Cesar Izturis and Ronny Cedeno, and has been looking for more ways to get "The Riot" in the lineup. Showing flexibility at SS as well as in the OF are ways that can help your fantasy team as well (depending on your rules). He also battled lead-off on Wednesday as Alfonso Soriano got the day off with a mushy track. Deep leagues owners should be considering Theriot with the increase confidence Piniella is showing in him. |

If he gets the PT, don't think I can drop him when the Chone gets well. |

It looks like Pinella will be sticking with Theriot as his starting shortstop. I don't think he will be batting leadoff full time though. But I wouldnt be surprised to see him hitting 2nd. FINALLY! |

This guy deserves playing time. I just hope he doesn't turn out to be similar to Freel in the sense that he turns out to be a marginal starter but the most spectacular utility man... I don't think he will though. |

| I would ask for the amount of inches tall doug flutie is multplied by 100 and that is how much money I get and I would like to get an autographed DOug Fluti/ Tom Bradey jersey. So first let me do the math for the $ Doug Fluti is 52 inches tall so 52 multipliedd by 100 equals $52,000 then I would sell the Doug fluti jersey for $22 on ebay and I would gain a profit of 52,022. |

Who knows. I havent really watched Freel play too much (only when he plays the Cubs) but from what I see from Theriot is that he plays the game hard. He is non stop out there. If Pinella does name him as the full time starter I hope he keeps playing at the high energy he plays at and doesn't slack off like a lot of other players usually do after being named the starter. |

No he has not hit a HR yet....besides, I don't think he's a HR hitter anyways. |
