News: Adam Wainwright struggled for the third start in a row Saturday, as he allowed six runs over 4.1 innings in the Cards' 8-1 loss to the Cubs.
Views: It's been rather ugly for Wainwright of late -- over his last three games, he's allowed 17 ER, 27 hits and nine walks over 15.2 IP (9.76 ERA and 2.30 WHIP). His velocity is down, which has leads me to think it's one thing -- while I'm sure he was stretched out sufficiently enough over the off-season, I'm thinking that he's going through a dead arm period. It usually doesn't hit the second week of the season, but most pitchers go through it and bounce back. He still has starter stuff, but maybe you should just bench him for the next couple of starts. |
