Baseball Player News: Tim Lincecum (SP), SF
By: Bill Frikken

News: Tim Lincecum had another dominant start in Triple-A Sunday, striking out 14 batters over six scoreless innings, the Contra Costa Times reports. He now has a 0.32 ERA in 31 innings, allowing just 12 hits and striking out 46.

Views: We all know this guy is not short on talent. And we already have a ton of posts with him as the topic. However, I still found this info as pretty worthwhile:

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said the club has discussed promoting Lincecum, but not as a reliever. The problem is that the Giants don't currently have an open spot in their rotation. The Contra Costa Times notes they could try to send a pitcher like Matt Morris or Noah Lowry to the Yankees, but that is mere speculation. If you have enough spots on your bench, adding Lincecum now would be a smart move.

You are correct. I saw an article about him at U of Washington with that pronunciation given, and just a week or so ago Peter Gammons said it that way on Baseball Tonight.

I say "line of cum" in my own head. Not trying to be funny but that is how I pronounce his name, and that is how I will until I hear it 20-30 times on SC.

The announcers on KXEX sports radio in Fresno have been pronouncing it "lin-SICK-em" all season. I'd give them a pretty good chance of having it right. :-)

We need to make another thread that does not have a high alert on it to discuss Lincecum's pronounciation so I don't think he was called up everytime it gets bumped.

Wow. I can only imagine what a trio of Zito, Cain, and Lincecum is like.

Is a promotion possible here soon with Ortiz going on the Dl? That would seem to open the door should they want to promote him now.....
