It's time for Fred Wilpon and Omar Minaya to seriously consider firing Willie Randolph.

I personally have never been a fan of Randolph. He nevers argues calls, and I have always felt that was a major weakness of his. It would be nice to see him get himself tossed. That's why Bobby Cox is so great, he knows how to rile his team up.

However, Cox also knows in-game tactics. I have no clue how Randolph gets the inane mindset of his bullpen mismanagement time after time or his ridiculous consistency of sending up Julio Franco in a big spot. How he still doesn't know how to do a double-switch after 3 years in the NL. And how he refuses to sit his veterans in favor of younger kids who have far outperformed them.

They said the players responded to him and played hard for Willie. But I've been watching the games. They are playing lacksadaisical ball and not running out routine grounders. Frankly, Willie Randolph is an awful manager, and I would love to see him fired.

Who to hire? You think Minaya could lure Bobby Valentine back from Japan?

No thanks to Randolph.

I'm dead serious when I say we'd have 7-10 more wins if Bobby V were our manager. I've ALWAYS hated Randolph.

Shut up Devon.

You are no longer allowed to cheer when the Mets win the World Series later this year.

So your issue is he doesn't get tossed and he he doesn't get players to run out routine ground balls, correct? Randolph can't "make" anyone run out groundballs. I know for a fact he's benched Reyes for not running plays out. What more can he do? Fine them? Suspend them? The leaders in the Mets clubhouse and the players themselves have to be the ones to push this. The veterans need to step up.

As for not getting tossed more to fire up his team, I'm not convinced getting tossed fires up anyone.

I think you're nitpicking because the Mets aren't playing well.

Stop right there. I got told the same thing last year when I said on another site about this time of year that the Cardinals had no shot at winning the World Series. Then, we they did I wasn't allowed to celebrate because I gave up on them.

Just because Devon doesn't like Randolph doesn't mean he's any less of a fan. It just means he's nitpicking.

I'd like him to be more like LaRussa. Willing to platoon, sit a guy who can't hit lefties cough cough Jose Valentin cough cough or just hit in general LoDuca and give some legit playing time to the guys who deserve it, Castro and Gotay.

It's sounds good in theory but to be honest with you it gets slightly annoying especially now a days for the Cardinals. I get sick of seeing a lineup with Ludwick, Miles, Schumaker, and Kennedy all in it. Part of it is injuries part of it is over managing.

This is changing the subject and hijacking your thread slightly but I've pretty much decided I'm all for LaRussa leaving after this year. It's time for new blood.

I'd do Juan for Milledge straight up. I'll get my buddy Walt on the phone.

You might have gotten your wish Devon. Word on the street is that Chip Ambres has been called up.

YES!

See, that's part of it. For whatever reason, Omar and Willie have been unwilling to call up young'ens from AAA in favor of old retreads like Alomar and Ledee. But I'm quite high on Ambres.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are calling up Ambers replace Easely on the roster(if he stays out for a while) or to see if he has any trade value.

With the Mets current stock of young OFers, they may look to move some of the lesser commodities.

Id tend to believe Ledee and Ambers could provide the same impact this year, but Ambers would bring more in a trade as he is younger

Maybe with Hardens continued arm troubles and deal like Heilman and Ambers could get him, providing Ambers plays well when called up.
