I sometimes forget the new readers to the site each season and throw these rankings up without much explanation. So I thought I would post a few notes to hopefully answer some questions beforehand .....
* When there are Thursday games, I will post the basic rankings without the detailed paragraphs and Plus/Negative Plays. Those will be listed with the final Friday rankings.
* The Thursday rankings are just a preliminary ranking to show where the Thursday players would generally fall in a normal week. Any movement of these players in the Friday rankings are not a reflection of their Thursday night performance -- it is only a change in position of the players that will be playing on Sunday/Monday.
* If any major fantasy players for the Thursday game are on the Wednesday injury report, they will be listed in the Thursday post.
For all other games, the latest possible injury report will be used for the Friday post. Hopefully, that would be the Friday injury report. Usually, it's out around 4 PM CT, but sometimes it's not until 6-7 PM CT -- and I like my Friday nights, too.
* Regarding the Plus/Negative Plays that will appear in the Friday report -- At the start of each week, I make a ranking of my own of how I think that all the players at a position will do for the rest of the season from that point on to establish a base ranking.
Then, after I make my final Friday rankings, I compare the current week's ranking to the base rankings and the players that have an unusual jump in a positive or negative way are the Plays for the week. This means that stars like Peyton Manning or LaDainian Tomlinson would never be Plus Plays, and guys that are expected to live at the bottom of the list like Tarvaris Jackson or J.J. Arrington would never be Negative Plays because, well, they just can't get much worse.
Hope that helps.
