Anyone know if this is just rumor or a done deal?
If so where's the pitching help?

That may be one of the dumbest trades Ive ever seen. Milledge is known to be a good player, so it isnt like its Kazmir for Vic Zambrono or something like that. Im pretty sure that if the Mets wanted a catcher, they could get a lot better then Schnieder

Not a good trade at all. I mean, Church isn't a bid little player, but he's basically average. Schneider isn't any better. And Milledge is a huge prospect. Best of luck to him in D.C., the mets will regret this one.

Milledge "was" a huge prospect.
Sure he's decent in the field, but he cannot hit a curveball which makes him useless at the major league level.
Mets won't regret this at all, especially with F-Mart waitng in the wings.

yeah they have F-Mart but that doesn't excuse making this stupid trade.

There isn't such a thing as too many prospects (and if there is, the Mets aren't really anywhere near that point). You don't give up on a 22 year old mega-prospect because he struggles with the curve ball.

According to Metsblog.com, the Mets offered Estrada and Milledge for Church and Schneider. The Nationals countered with Milledge for Church and Schneider. LOL!!!!! Even the Nationals don't want Estrada.

According to Yahoo! in the MLB Rumors Section, Heilman/Humber/Milledge for Bedard was rejected, but the Orieles will accept Heilman/Humber/Church.

That makes no sense, but it shows that Milledge has very little value

I would be shocked if the O's let Bedard go for that little. Bedard is a solid #2, at worst and Humber has had a laundry list of problems, Heilman has been a solid in relief but his contract value will go up this year. I get wanting Church over Milledge (or at least how the rational is construed). There just has to be more value out there for Bedard.

Omar is justifying the Milledge trade by comparing it to the Benson trade.... He is really grasping here.

The Benson trade is the exact opposite as the Milledge trade.

When they moved Benson they got rid of a middling pitcher for a middle reliever reliever and a younger pitcher with a high ceiling, now look at the mets trade

Mets give the high upside ofer for a middling Ofer and a middling catcher.

There is only one way this trade can be justified. If they actually are able to swing Church in a deal for a pitcher.

I just can't see any way possible for Church to hold more value then Milledge AT ALL.

And I don't know what all this nonsense is about Milledge not being a CF prospect. He has always been a CF prospect being forced to play RF because of Beltran. In fact one of the big questions surrounding Milledge was whether or not he would have the POP to play a corner Outfield slot. He has great jets and a strong arm. Any routing issues would be taking care of with experience.

any way.......

YOU DO NOT TRADE SOMEONE AT HIS LKOWEST AND SAY "THATS ALL WE COULD GET". If you can't get fair market value, you keep the guy. Wait till the deadline or next offseason when his value will be higher, much higher especially considering he is only 22. And if it isn't higher you lost absolutely nothing considering he was already at rock bottom.
