Pitching Galore and Floyd

Steve Trachsel. Al Leiter. Tom Glavine. All three have been pitching out of their minds in their past two starts. Trachsel pitched a one-hit shutout against the Rockies Monday, and pitched 7 1/3 innings of shutout ball Saturday night against the Dodgers. Glavine threw seven innings of one run, two-hit ball Sunday, beating the Dodgers. Leiter let up 2 runs in seven innings Friday, actually taking the loss against the anemic LA bats.
Cliff Floyd is certified to undergo surgery on his achilles within the next two weeks, and will be ready for next spring training.
The Mets offense has struggled to hit with RISP, although they have been getting a decent amount of hits. Their problem is that they get shut down for extended periods of time, eating up innings of possible runs.
Rookie Jose Reyes went into a four-game slump at the start of the road trip in San Diego and the first game in LA, but went 3-5 with a homer Saturday and 2-4 on Sunday.
Joe McEwing has been out with his wife, who gave birth to their first son on Saturday. Marco Scutaro has been starting in his place, and has been impressive with the glove and bat. He drove in the winning run against Kevin Brown on Sunday night.
Jaime Cerda was sent down in favor of Prentice Redman, 24 year old AAA outfielder.
