Ryan Sweeney

News: Sweeney raised his average to .400 on the year with his second multi-hit game in his past five. He's notched five doubles in that stretch. He finished 2 for 4 with a double in the Red Sox 6-5 win over the Minnesota Twins.
Sweeney has still yet to hit a home run or steal a base on the year, but the hot streak (along with Jacoby Ellsbury's injury) has helped him find some prime real estate in the lineup. Against right-handed pitching, the Red Sox have been using Sweeney in the second spot in the order, right between Mike Aviles and in front of Dustin Pedroia, Adrian Gonzalez, and David Ortiz. If he can continue to get on base, there's little reason to think that he'll be dropping in the order any time soon. In front of that trio, he could score a ton of runs. There's still not enough speed or power for him to be worth a look in standard mixed leagues, but he could be a nice pickup in deep or AL Only leagues.
