New Entry - 3/3/04
March 03, 2004
Steroids are the big story this week. Barry Bonds, Jason Giambi, Gary Sheffield and Bill Romanowski are all mentioned in a report given to federal investigators. According to the report, Bonds' trainer Greg Anderson. It is absolutely crazy to try to figure out exactly why the media isn't making a big deal out of this story. It is a huge story and could taint the image of the MLB and NFL if it is investigated and persued. Where's the outrage?
Former Reds owner Marge Schott has died. There is absolutely no loss to the world here. Her only accomplishment - a World Series championship does not cover up the rest of her cold and ignorant life. This 75 year old woman was pro-Hitler ("Everybody knows he was good at the beginning, but he just went to far") and anti-gay ("Only fruits wear earrings [on the field]").
Mike Piazza will play first base for the Mets this season. He looked very good over there in a recent workout. He was able to bring in a subpar throw, was charged with one error (when pitching-hopeful Scott Erickson forgot to cover first base) and was a participant in two double plays. I recommend you bring him on your team.
Travis Lee is with the Yankees. He's going to be a backup for Giambi this season. He was signed to a one-year deal, worth an unreported amount. One has to wonder if the Yankees are a bit worried that something might turn up in the Giambi-steroid-allegation to warrant bringing in a backup for one-year only.
Pete Rose will be inducted to the WWE Hall of Fame. Since the MLB wouldn't take him, he probably pleaded his case to every other Hall of Fame he would have a shot at. The induction will take place later this month.
Kaz Matsui will be out a week. He needed to stiches in the middle finger on his throwing hand after being injured in a practice. It appears that a ground ball hit to him split open the finger. I'm not really understanding this one - stitches on his non-glove hand from a ground ball. Barring any other odd injuries, he'll be back in a week.
And, that's the news for now. Another update will be coming at the end of the week. Please leave your comments!
