Two Start Pitchers - May 7 - May 13
May 04, 2007
Let's Play Two will be something we'll be doing every Saturday throughout the year which will be highlighting all pitchers projected to make two starts in the upcoming fantasy week, running Monday through Sunday each week. This can be a particularly useful tool for those of you either in leagues that use weekly transactions and for those of you in head to head leagues. To play along, we'll select a starter from each league and keep track of our statistics based on our Start of the Week. All home games are in CAPS.

Start of the Week
Just to switch things up, we're going to avoid the AL Central like the plague this week. Instead, we'll go with a different hotbed for injured pitchers so far this season. Andy Pettitte has already missed some time this season, but he's slated for two next week against a Rangers squad he shut down in Texas this past week and a Mariner lineup that hasn't proven they can hit anyone (until they dinged up Kei Igawa and Co. for fifteen runs Friday night) in Safeco. Lifetime, he hasn't done much of anything against either team, but since that hasn't been working out for us anyway this season, we'll go with the fact that he's facing one offense that's looking horrible right now (Texas) and another that should look horrible for most of the season (Seattle).
Last Week's Selection: Jeremy Bonderman - 1-0, 5.0 IP, 9 H, 1 BB, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 K... at least, for the first time all season, our pick in the AL will make his second start. Next up: at Royals
On the Year: 2-3, 23.1 IP, 31 H, 9 BB, 18 R, 17 ER, 15 K (6.56 ERA, 1.72 WHIP)... the AL is getting embarassing...

Start of the Week
The funny thing is, we make sure to take advantage of this once a year in the National League. Though his lone career loss against the Reds came against them last season, Roy Oswalt is 18-1 lifetime against Cincinnati with a 2.46 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. The scary thing is, he might actually be better against the Diamondbacks. In six lifetime starts against Arizona, Oswalt has gone 5-0 with a 1.64 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. Expect Oswalt to try and give the rest of his teammates a kick in the rear with his starts this week.
Last Week's Selection: Brandon Webb - 1-1, 13 IP, 10 H, 7 BB, 7 R, 6 ER, 5 K
On the Year: 4-2, 65.0 IP, 34 H, 25 BB, 14 R, 13 ER, 47 K (1.80 ERA, 0.91 WHIP)
