Two Start Pitchers - July 2 - July 8
June 29, 2007
Let's Play Two will be something we'll be doing every Saturday throughout the year which will be highlighting all pitchers projected to make two starts in the upcoming fantasy week, running Monday through Sunday each week. This can be a particularly useful tool for those of you either in leagues that use weekly transactions and for those of you in head to head leagues. To play along, we'll select a starter from each league and keep track of our statistics based on our Start of the Week. All home games are in CAPS.

Start of the Week
Sure... I feel we put him on the DL the last time that we selected him, but we're going to go for it and try the King again. Felix Hernandez has struggled to find much in the way of consistency since his early-season injury, but the upcoming schedule certainly bodes well. In the Royals and A's, he'll face two bottom ten offensive ballclubs, each of whom he's already beaten this season. Hernandez struck out twelve in eight dominant shutout innings against Oakland earlier this season and gave up just two runs in 5.1 solid innings in a win against the Royals last month.

Start of the Week
As much as I'm tempted by that Pittsburgh/Washington daily double by the four pitchers who get to face it next week, we're going to take a pass. Instead, we'll take Derek Lowe of the Dodgers, who has dominated the young Marlins in each of the last two seasons (2-1, 1.61 ERA, 0.85 WHIP) and threw seven shutout innings against the Braves in his lone start against them this season. Both starts will come at home, where Lowe currently sports a 2.34 ERA and 1.11 WHIP.
Last Week's Selection: Brandon Webb - 1-0, 7.0 IP, 7 H, 5 BB, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 K... Webb will on longer make two starts this week, but is slated to do so next week.
On the Year: 9-6, 124.2 IP, 113 H, 48 BB, 57 R, 54 ER, 81 K (3.90 ERA, 1.29 WHIP)
