LATEST TEAM INFO:
The starting pitching isn't looking so healthy anymore. El Duque was scratched from his start last night and is scheduled to have an MRI on his back today. Wells is also experiencing back pain and will miss his start tonight. He is also scheduled to have an MRI on his back today. Hitchcock was an emergency starter last night. Torre is planning to use Mussina tonight and Lilly tomorrow (both on 3 days of rest). Adjust your lineups accordingly.
INJURIES:
El Duque was quoted saying, "I thought yesterday I could pitch today, but it didn't happen." Torre expects him to rejoin the rotation on Saturday, if he doesn't he may be put on the DL. The Yankees may call up a minor league starter soon. It looks like Hitchcock is in the rotation for now.
RUMOR MILL:
All the rumors about the Mondesi, Cruz, or Stewart are gaining momentum. Both Mondesi and Cruz said that wouldn't mind playing for NY. The Boss is pushing Cashman to look for a RF since HR production from White, Spencer and Vander Wal has been lower than expected. The strength of Seattle and Boston has left the Boss uncomfortable and in search of a STAR RF. The Yankees are 2 games behind the Sox.
ON THE FARM:
No word on which Clipper pitcher may get called up to make a start. Adrian Hernandez perhaps Brandon Claussen.
LINE-UP CHANGES:
This seems to be the lineup of choice. Soriano still isn't drawing walks.
