Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) are all about finding the hidden value. Squeezing as many projected points as possible into your daily lineups dramatically improves your chances of winning. Yeah, it feels good to play as many studs as possible but, the reality is, the majority of the teams in your league are probably starting them as well. Choosing high value (aka expected value) players is a great way to break free from the pack.
What exactly is a value pick? Basically, it's a player that's projected to tally more points than what's baked into his FanDuel salary. A simple yet effective calculation to quantify that is: [projected points / salary]. So, the higher the projected points and/or the lower the FanDuel salary, the larger the value. Lower salary guys are typically less owned, so if just half of them hit big, you'll gain a TON of leverage on the league. The table above lists the top value guys first and is updated fairly often as game factors, FanDuel scoring, injuries and playing conditions change throughout the week.
Speaking of scoring, as you know, every DFS site scores all the action just a little bit differently. Here's a breakdown of FanDuel's scoring (major events only):
So, FanDuel points are pretty fairly distributed amongst QBs, RBs and WRs/TEs. A rushing and receiving yard yields the same amount of points (as well as TD). Quarterbacks get less per yard but of course, they account for way more yardage so their point rates need to be dampened a bit. The bonuses for all three are the big draw. An extra 3 points is a big boost and often the difference between a finish near the money cutoff.
FanDuel salary trend over last x games. A green line means the player's salary has gone down (usually because of decreased recent performance). A red line denotes an increase in salary.Have a suggestion? Get in touch!
