Real-time Updates

All the NFL weather panels above are updated hourly, at the top of the hour. The main panel has the current weather conditions along with the wind speed, direction and orientation. Of course, the layout of each stadium and field are all a bit different so we've adjusted the angles accordingly. Some stadiums are more conducive to wind and other weather conditions so we've tailored the results to home field factors as well.

How exactly does weather affect DFS and fantasy football?

For one, late season games are almost always affected by chilly weather (moreso on the East coast). A snowy or icy field REALLY hinders scoring. It's tougher to throw, run, pivot, etc. Ever try throwing soaking wet pigskin? Yeah, not easy. All it takes is a missed throw here and there to keep big points off the board. In fantasy, especially with daily leagues, that's a huge deal.

Back to wind, gusts above 10 MPH can do harm... or good. If an astute (home field) quarterback has the wind at their back, it's not uncommon to get an extra 5-10+ yards on a deep pass. Orchestrating a drive into the wind is a bit more sketchy. QBs aren't used to getting their passes knocked down. Even tight spirals aren't immune. Again, smart offenses will shift to slants and shorter routes but you'd be surprised how often some teams don't deviate from the game plan when big time weather strikes.

NFL Stadiums with Domes

Of course, a bunch of modern stadiums now have retractable domes. Fans can enjoy the (football) fun and sun on nice days. When it's dismal out, in 10 minutes the roof deploys and it's back to the action. In total, ten stadiums in the NFL have domes (five are retractable, five are fixed).

Teams with Retractable Domes

Of note, the Cardinals can also move the entire field outside the stadium. A ton of rollers under the field literally move it out of the stadium. It keeps the lush grass in great shape when other events use the complex (concerts, dirt races, etc). Rolling it out also gives the grass all the sunlight it needs to sustain a 250-lb linebacker's pile drive.

Teams with Fixed Domes

As with State Farm park, the Raiders' Allegiant Stadium also has rollers afoot. Less divots and potentially rolled ankles.
