More about Empower Field at Mile High
Empower Field at Mile High has the highest elevation in the league and that thinner air creates quite an interesting set of home field advantages. First, the lower concentration of oxygen make it noticeably more difficult to catch your breath. Visiting teams, especially players new to Mile High, are at a definite disadvantage. On the flip side, that thinner air really helps the air attack -- QB tosses travel further and field goals go an extra 5-10 yards. That tends to result in slightly more scoring. During the winter months and with the lack of a roof, snow days are also a fun wild card.
The other home field is the Denver crowd. They're one of the loudest in the league and cause a bunch of delay of games and false starts. Overall, Denver is a beautiful place... unless you're on the visiting squad.
